Looking to hire great talent into your Wellington organisation? Or are you a tech professional looking for that next career move?
Younity’s Wellington team has you covered.

Wellington’s tech scene is compact, well connected, and unusually deep for a city its size. As the seat of government it holds the country’s largest concentration of public sector technology work, alongside globally recognised private companies like Xero, Trade Me and Wētā FX, and a start-up culture that punches above its weight.
For tech professionals, Wellington offers variety within easy reach. You can move between digital transformation programmes in government, product work in a listed company, and specialist roles in a small studio without ever leaving the city. It’s also one of the strongest contracting markets in New Zealand, which makes it a genuine option for anyone wanting to build skills quickly across different environments.
For employers, the Wellington talent pool is skilled and highly networked, and that cuts both ways. Word travels fast, reputations matter, and the organisations that hire well here are the ones with a clear proposition and a process that respects a candidate’s time.
That’s where Younity comes in. Our Wellington team works at the coalface of the capital’s IT market every day. We know which skills are in demand, which employers are hiring, and what it takes to make the right match, quickly.

Whether you’re a Wellington tech professional ready for your next move, or an organisation looking to hire, our team is ready to help.
Our Wellington team regularly reports on employer and candidate insights, along with key trends shaping the local IT job market across the Wellington region.
Andy, Chris and Joel, our team of Wellington tech recruiters, share what they're seeing at the coalface of IT employment in the capital. They cover how 2026 has differed from 2025 so far, and which tech skills are in hot demand.
We asked Hayley MacDonald one of senior Business Transformation recruiters about what is happening in the Wellington job market as 2026 kicks off.
Funny, caring, smart and honest are all words that people use to describe Amanda.
And while all these qualities make her an all-over amazing human (and widely respected recruiter), it’s her down-to-earth approach, love for cheesy dinosaur movies and cheeky sense of humour that we love most about her.
Did we mention she bakes too? #winning
Andy knows stuff.
Want to know what’s going on in the tech sector right now? Andy is your guy.
Want to know what your next tech career move should be? Andy is SO your guy.
Want to know where you can find the best beer hangouts in Welly? Yip, Andy is also your guy!
Andy also knows his rugby and he’s an avid ABs fan but if we’re talking footy, then Newcastle United is his ride or die team.
We’re not sure what Angela loves most – matching her clients’ needs with the right person for a role or loudly supporting her daughter’s football team in Petone. Honestly, it could be either!
What we are sure about is that her years of experience in business, combined with her buzzing positive energy, natural curiosity and passion to help people succeed, are pretty special.
The fact that she’s a great human to be around is priceless, almost as priceless as her passion for the Hurricanes and All Blacks. Almost. 🏉
Chris excels at challenges and is a tenacious dude that just doesn’t give up.
Whether it is to secure a hard-to-find digital skillset, help a software unicorn land that dream role or lead a Friday night social, he commits and doesn’t stop until he delivers.
We think it’s his affinity for finding Wally in the Where’s Wally books, but we can’t be sure.
Three things that we know about Hayley – she always keeps things real (#nofilter), she has a legendary ability to deliver for her clients and probably has one of the best laughs in the world.
Hayley’s ability to listen and really understand what our clients and candidates need, and then find the right fit for both sides makes her a really good recruiter.
But we think her ability to just be herself makes her an even better human.
Jess brings a bubbly personality, quick wit and her big smile that fits our team to a tee. Never one to shy away from a challenge, she dove headfirst into IT recruitment after completing her Marketing degree – and hasn’t looked back.
We love that she’s curious, adventurous and deeply connected to her family, friends and of course Leo the cat.
As for her support of Chelsea… her dad’s a fan, so we’ve decided to let it slide! 😉
The first thing you’ll notice about Joel is his open, friendly manner and a smile that reaches his eyes. But that’s just part of the story – Joel is driven, likes a challenge, and consistently goes the extra mile to deliver.
Whether tackling Wellington’s mountain bike trails, hitting the slopes, or passionately backing the Broncos (he’s from Brissie, but we don’t hold that against him!), Joel brings the same energy, curiosity, and commitment to his clients and candidates alike.
Our lovely Pam is a seasoned tech recruiter who’s known for her positive outlook, can-do attitude, and ability to find the right person for a role.
Pam’s strong moral compass, incredible work ethic and commitment to do the right thing by her candidates is legendary. So is her love for wrestling!
Fun fact: Pam is a creative party planner and over weekends she styles gorgeous events for friends and family.
Toni’s ability to connect with people and build strong relationships are almost as legendary as her wit, fun and positive energy she brings to everything she does.
Toni has a few passions in life:
Placing the right person in the right role? Tick.
Making the whole recruitment process easy-peasy? Tick.
Being a kick-ass mum to two amazing humans, two of the most handsome horses and a fluffy dog? Biiig tick.
We think it’s telling that Vanessa’s sporting heroes are Kobe Bryant and Michael Jordan, she has a lot in common with them. She never gives up, works incredibly hard to deliver for her candidates and is an excellent teammate who strives to do her best.
Originally from Manila in the Philippines, Vanessa also worked in Singapore before moving to NZ in 2019 with her family.
But this mum of three is not all work and no play! She always has a twinkle in her eyes and cracks us up with her one-liners, loves hanging with her friends and lovely family, cook, do some shopping and of course, Netflix and chill.
We heard that morbid K-dramas are her jam, so that brings balance… we guess?!
